It’s a Start…

God has certainly given us a miracle. The Government office that has jurisdiction over the Nakivale Refugee Settlement has closed the area to all new people, refugees and visitors alike. It also means construction workers. So in effect, the mandate had shutdown our Solar Water Pump project.

We submitted our paperwork to the OPM office (Office of Prime Minister). We were denied access for problems with our paperwork. We met with Mr. Frank from the OPM to revise our request, then we had to have our contractor, Davis & Shirtliff, revise our contract wording.

Again it was not acceptable. The OPM officer brought in, not one, but two lawyers (which, of course, I had to pay for). After many hours we finally had a contract and a request for work that was acceptable to forward to the OPM officials.

I will say it was a long and playful night as we waited for the word to come back from the main office of OPM in Kampala.

In the morning we received word from Mr. Frank, that we, not only had our permission to continue with our project, but that i had permission to enter the Nakivale Settlement.

As I said earlier, it is nothing but a miracle. As I am the only visitor allowed on the Settlement.  We give all praise and glory to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  🙏🙏🙏

The Team

These are the people that helped so much with getting our permission. From left to right: Plummer, the Emmaus school administrator; Mr. Frank, from the OPM office in Mbarara, who went above and beyond to help us; Praise, a teacher at the Emmaus school, she and Plummer were invaluable with translation; myself; Bishop Lewi, the Director of the Emmaus school.
